FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything companies ask before joining Hours — the multilateral B2B time exchange where verified companies trade unused team capacity hour for hour.

Is this employee sharing or body leasing?

No. Companies exchange services with each other, delivered under a simple service order. The platform never directs anyone's work, sets schedules, or acts as an employer. Your team stays your team.

Do we have to pay anything?

Founding members join free. No commissions, no percentage of "transaction value" — ever. Hours are not money and we don't price them. A flat membership fee comes later.

Is this tax-free because no money moves?

No — and we won't pretend it is. Exchanged services may still need to be documented and accounted for under your local rules. Hours keeps a full ledger of every settled exchange that you can use for your bookkeeping. Cash-free is not accounting-free.

What if we earn Hours and find nothing to spend them on?

The network shows current demand before you publish supply, so you earn against real gaps. During the pilot, a human concierge helps every member spend what they've earned and brings in companies where a skill is in short supply.

Do we have to reveal that our team has idle time?

No. Offers are published without your company name — "available capacity" from a verified company of your category. Your identity is revealed only when you accept an interested member.

What about our clients and competitors?

Your company name stays hidden until you accept a member, and every exchange runs under a simple service order. During the pilot the network team helps you steer clear of clients and competitors; industry exclusions and company blocklists arrive with the public release.

Is a time exchange the same as barter?

No. Direct barter needs a coincidence of wants — two companies each wanting exactly what the other has spare, at the same time. A time exchange is multilateral and deferred: company A provides hours to B and later spends the earned credit on services from C. A shared ledger holds each member's balance, so no closed barter loop is ever required.

Do Hours credits expire or convert to money?

Hours are a time credit, not currency. No money moves between members and the platform never prices them. A credit simply records that a member gave an hour of service and may later receive an hour back — settled through the shared ledger, hour for hour.

Is one hour of any profession really equal?

Yes — 1 hour worked is always 1 Hour credited, with no seniority multipliers, no rate cards, and no profession pricing. Quality is handled by mechanisms instead of rates: the receiver accepts the specific person on an intro call, first engagements start small, either side can stop between blocks, and credits mint only after the receiver approves the logged hours.

Who can join a B2B time exchange?

Verified service companies only. Individuals cannot buy or sell on their own behalf; every member is a verified company, and credits are created only after the receiving company approves the work.
